(Isn't that the cutest? This is inspired by Ronda Wade's Facebook live a few weeks ago. This is such an awesome little gift to have on hand to give to the clerk at the post office or grocery store. Your hairdresser would appreciate one as would your neighbors! The list of people to give them to is endless!
These are quick and easy to make as well. You start with a full sheet of cardstock and cut it to 4 1/4" x 11". Then score at 1" down both long sides. Turn the cardstock so the long edge is along the top of your paper trimmer and score at 1", 5", 6" and 10".
Fold and burnish your cardstock on each score line. Then hold your cardstock with the long side horizontal and "cut in" on all the lines until you hit the 1" score line. You will also want to "miter" ONLY the little flaps. . Lastly cut off the two little flaps from one end. On the other end, notch a half circle using a punch or a small circle die. This makes a finger hold for opening the box. (See the photo below.)
IF you are using a light colored cardstock, you may want to stamp a message in the inside fo the top. (That's the end with the flap that is NOT notched.) Now flip it over and put tear and tape on the four little flaps. Give them a good rub with the bone folder to make it easier to peel off the paper.
Now tuck the flaps on either side of the notched end onto the side piece. NOTE: Be careful to maintain right angles. If you tuck it in so that the angle is "collapsed" the top will not fit properly. Next tuck the two flaps in the middle to the those same side pieces. See the arrows below.
Next stamp a sentiment in the inside of the box and place one piece of patterned paper in the bottom of the box and another on the top of the box. You can miter the large flaps on the cover of the box, if you wish. This may help them fit better. Put a small piece of tear'n tape on the bottom of the box and placed the ribbon (about 21") on it. Then tie the bow on the top. Stamp a sentiment on a die cut or a punched piece of cardstock and adhere it to the top with dimensionals so that it spans the ribbon. This will keep the ribbon in place when it is untied to open the box. Your box is now ready to hold a 2 ounce hand sanitizer or a sweet treat!
You can see all the items used to create this box listed below. The sentiments for both the inside and the outside of the box are from the Life is Beautiful stamp set!.
