The Field of Flowers stamp set and the Hinge Fold seemed like the perfect combination for the Sunday Stamps Color challenge this week. This is the first time I have participated in this challenge. I was inspired by a card created by Stamp with Amy K for the same challenge.

Here are the colors for this week's challenge. You will definitely want to visit Sunday Stamps SSC 247 to see all the great cards that were entered. You will be inspired! You can also join the challenge yourself!

To create the hinge fold card you will need  the following:

Night of Navy Card base: 5 1/2" x 7 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
Wood grain Mat layer: 3" x 5 1/4"
Basic White: 2 3/4" x 5"
Hinge:
Night of Navy: Cut largest of Stitched Nested Dies, score at 3 3/4"
Basic White: Cut 2nd largest Stitched Nested Die, trim to 2 1/2" by cutting off 1 point

*** Please sign up to receive my emails and receive card inspirations and tips right to your inbox every week!***

Begin by folding your card base on the score line. Adhere the woodgrain paper from the In Good Taste Designer series paper pack onto the left side. The stem and leaves from the Field Of Flowers stamp set were stamped randomly in Mossy Meadow ink on the piece of basic white card stock. The flowers were then stamped onto the stems using Seaside Spray ink. Adhere this stamped piece onto the woodgrain piece on the front of the card.

Using Mossy Meadow ink, stamp the field of grass/flowers along the edge of the white hinge piece. Add the flowers using Seaside Spray and stamp the sentiment "Always" in Pear Pizzaz.

Cut an inside mat of whisper white at 5 1/4" x 4" and adhere a piece of wood grain paper (3/4" x 5 1/4") down the left hand side. Then fold the Night of Navy "hinge" around the right hand side of this piece of whisper white with adhesive on the inside of the small piece of the hinge, being sure to center it in the middle of the right side. See the photo below.
Next, adhere that piece of whisper white and hinge to the inside of the card base. For the last step, adhere the white layer of the hinge onto the Night of Navy piece.

Do you need a new card layout to try? I recently tried a Z Fold card and I love it. It shows off the pretty papers so well. Here are two samples made with Sale-a-bration papers- these papers are free with a $50 purchase (before tax and shipping.) The one on the left is closed using the Paper Blooms DSP  while the one on the right shows the card opened using Field and Flowers DSP.

Paper Share For January - June 2021 Catalog

12/31/2020

I hope you had an amazing Christmas holiday, if you celebrate, and a relaxing few days following as much of the work is behind us now. I was pleasantly surprised at how wonderful a quiet, more relaxed holiday could be. We made the most of technology to video chat with family near and far. I hope you were able to feel like you were not alone, even if your home was quiet.

The new January- June Mini Catalog (it is not so mini) is going "live" on January 5. Once again, I believe Stampin' Up! has knocked it out of the park when it comes to the beautiful papers. (Stampin' Up! calls them Designer Series Paper or DSP, for short.) They are all double sided and beautiful.

I am offering a paper share....you get a "share" of 9 different packs of paper. A share is 1/4 of the amount of paper in the pack. In the past I have cut these shares 6" x 6" but there are times that you might need a bigger piece of paper. This year you will get one 6" x 12" piece of each pattern instead of two 6" x 6" squares of each paper. (It's the same amount of paper. I'm just not cutting it again into 6" x 6".) See photo below.

There are 9 different packs of paper that I am including. They are on p.84 of the new January- June mini catalog. (I have my mailed my catalogs. Hopefully, they will arrive soon. If you'd like one, please email me and I'll put one in the mail to you.) You will get 1/4 of each pack or 54 sheets of 6" x 12" pieces of paper. (Remember this is the equivalent of 108 6" x 6" pieces.) The cost of the paper share is $30.  Due to several packages not making it to customers this fall, I am now shipping first class using a Priority padded envelope so shipping will be $8.15 additional.

Here is a link to a video that shows you all of the paper. Ignore what I say about 6" x 6" size. It will be 6" x 12" for everyone.  Click HERE to view the video.

I'm sure the video convinced you that you need to have a share of all these beautiful papers. To reserve yours please send me an email and provide me with your name and address. I will send you an invoice via PayPal (you do not need a PayPal account to pay it. ) Once I have received payment, I will send you your paper share.

I hope you will take part in this amazing offer!

Hot Cocoa Pouches

12/15/2020

Just yesterday I asked my daughter if she'd like a few hot cocoa "treats" for my grandson to give to his friends at daycare. She loved the idea and the next morning asked if I could make 45!!! She is a preschool special education teacher and decided they'd be great to give to her classes as well! What does a mother and paper crafter say? "Of course I can!" So today I set out to make these. Luckily for me, my sister has been staying with us so she helped as well.

Here is the design I decide to use.
Picture
To make these pouches, cut your 12" x 12" into 4  6" x 6" squares. Using your score board, place the paper "front" side up with one point at 4 1/4" and then score at 2 1/2" and 6 1/8". Turn the paper counter clockwise 90° and score at 6 1/8". We used the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper. (See photo on the left for scoring.)

Next fold the triangles to the front. Place your hot cocoa punch inside and adhere the two side flaps to each other and then fold the bottom one up on top of the other two.
Picture
Picture
Next we placed a 1" x 11" belly band around the pouch, trimming about an inch off the belly band if it was too big. (Some pouches seemed fatter than others.) The sentiment was stamped with the "Just for You" greeting from the Celebrations Tidings stamp set and cut with the smallest Celebration Labels dies. Right now these dies are 50% off!
Picture
To finish it off, we tied a small bow around the candy cane and inserted that into the pouch! We made all 45 easily before lunch!

Aren't you glad I asked if my grandson needed a few treats?

Happy Crafting to You!
Please let me know if I can make your crafting more successful or enjoyable!

Thank you for visiting our Stampin' Up!® Demonstrator Monthly Training Program Blog Hop! We are a group of Stampin' Up!® Demonstrators from around the world that are taking part in training that is helping us to build a successful Stampin' Up!® business and reach some goals we have set. We really appreciate your suppor and we hope that you will be inspired by these creative cards.

You may be starting here or have come from another blog - either way you can find the link list at the bottom of this post so that you can see every blog post and every card made.

Picture
Each time I send a Thank You note to my customers, I want them to feel special and appreciated as well as inspired. For this month's card I used the Heartwarming Hugs variety of papers but not in a Christmas-y way. I love how you can make non-holiday cards with this paper too. You may have some pieces left over from your holiday cards and I hope this will inspire you to make a few birthday, thinking of you, or thank you cards. I do feel there is a nice "warmth" in the colors of these papers.
Here is how I made this card:
Card Base: Early Espresso 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
Card Front: 5 1/4" x 4" of Heartwarming Hugs DSP
Sentiment and Vine: Whisper white: about 5 1/2" x 6"

The vine was stamped using the Quite Curvy stamp set and colored with Old Olive and Mossy Meadow blends, using the light and dark of each. It was then cut out with the corresponding die from the Quite Curvy Bundle.

Picture
The sentiment, from Butterfly Gala, was stamped in Early Espresso ink on Whisper White rectangle cut with 4th largest of the  Stitched Rectangle dies.

***If you enjoyed this idea for making a card, please sign up to receive my idea filled emails!**

Here are a few more cards I made using other patterns from the Heartwarming Hugs DSP too.

As I mentioned previously,  this card is part of a blog hop! Be sure to click on the next name below to see what others are making for their thank you card this month.

Pinwheel Card

12/9/2020

Picture
There's something about this Pinwheel layout that makes me smile! Perhaps it's the memories it brings back from childhood. It just seems like a happy card! This one uses one of my very favorite holiday papers. It's the Heartwarming Hugs collection from the August -December 2020 mini-catalog from Stampin' Up! All of the patterns are warm and welcoming and many can be used for non-holiday cards as well.

This card is quick and easy to make once you know the trick! Here's what you need to get started:

Card Base in Real Red: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
Card Front in Whisper White: cut 5 1/4" x 4"
DSP/Pretty Paper #1: (4)  1  1/4" x 1  1/4" squares
DSP/Pretty Paper #2: (4)  1  1/4" x 1  1/4" squares
Real Red squares:  (2)   2  5/8" x 2  5/8" squares
Subtle 3D Embossing Folder

Sentiment is from Celebration Tidings Stamp Set
Real Red Ink

The first step is to build the pinwheel. Take your two squares and layer them as shown in the photo. When you are sure they are centered properly, trace around them on your grid paper. Then glue them together. I use the Tombow Multipurpose glue because it allows you wiggle room. Now you have a template on your grid paper for lining up subsequent squares when you make more of these pinwheel cards!

The second photo shows how you will glue only the RIGHT half of the first little square in place. That's because when you get to the last little square, you will need to lift the left side of this square up in order to tuck the last square partway underneath.  Each little square is glued into the point of real read larger squares, leaving a small border.
heartwarming hugs, pinwheel card, stampin up, DIY cards
Continue to travel clockwise around the base as shown below. When you get to the last little square, lift up the left side of your first little square, and with a small amount of glue applied, slide the last little square underneath. Carefully wiggle it into place. (Second photo.) Then squeeze a drop of glue under the left side of the first little square (that you lifted) and adhere that in place. See photos below.
To finish the card, stamp your Merry Christmas sentiment near the bottom of the card front and then run it through the Stampin' Cut 'n Emboss machine with the Sublte 3D embossing folder to give it a bit of texture. Adhere this to the card front and then adhere your pinwheel to the upper section using dimensionals to "pop" it up.

Here is my finished card.... I switched it up to a Mossy Meadow card base and ink just to show you another color combination.

Year End Closeout Sale!

12/6/2020

Picture
Perhaps you noticed the "little" sale sign at the top of this post. That's right. It's time for another sale. Stampin' Up! is retiring many items from the current "mini" catalog on January 4. (The August -December Mini Catalog is the official name.) When an item "retires" it is no longer available to purchase- ever! (Ok, once in a while it shows up on the Clearance Rack.) And, this year to make it even more enticing many of the retiring items are on sale. You can see the list of retiring items here.

Here are a few IMPORTANT things to remember about the sale:The sale runs from December 8, 2020–January 4, 2021
  • No minimum purchase required.
  • Retiring items are available while supplies last so shop early for the best selection.
  • Exclusions apply: Carryover items will not be discounted.
  • Due to increased shipping times and possible shipping delays during the month of December, we can’t guarantee delivery before Christmas.

I've included my top ten favorite items that are retiring.

Vellum Votive Candle Holder!

12/5/2020

We love holiday lights at my house! My husband decorates the outside of the house the day after Thanksgiving with as many lights as he can find! (He's been known to order cases of lights from Amazon!) I love lots of lights indoors. I hang them in the windows, from the railings, and, of course, on the tree.

Here's a little light you can whip up easily and make several of to decorate a shelf or mantel.
Picture
To make this you need  3" x 3" square of card stock, scored at 1/2" on all 4 sides and a piece of vellum that is 4" x 8.5".

The video below has all of the instructions you need to make this. (I apologize that I'm not always centered but I think you can still follow along. I have an improved set up now.)

Note: I used silver heat embossing on this because the ink takes so long to dry on vellum.

If you enjoyed this project, please sign up to receive my idea and inspiration filled emails.

If you'd like to make this project at home here's what you need:
